AGARTALA: The highly infectious Delta plus variant of coronavirus has been found for the first time in Tripura after the Delta strain was detected in three northeastern states -- Assam, Manipur and Mizoram, doctors said here on Saturday.

CHANDIGARH:With cases of Delta Plus variant coming to light, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday ordered extension of the Covid restrictions till July 10, with certain more relaxations, including opening of bars, pubs and ahatas at 50% capacity, beginning July 1.

CHANDIGARH: Taking a cue from the threat being posed by Delta Plus cases reported in the state, the Chief Secretary, Ms Vini Mahajan, on Sunday put the state machinery on an active mode to ensure surveillance and aggressive contact tracing and testing to contain the further spread of Delta Plus, a highly infectious variant of Covid.

NEW DELHI: The nature of subsequent Covid-19 outbreaks will depend on the new variants of the virus as one more strain called Delta Plus has emerged in a few states, said N.K. Arora, a member of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

GANDHINAGAR:The Department of Health and Family Welfare (DoH) of the Union Ministry of Health on Friday asked Gujarat Chief Secretary (CS) Anil Mukim to adopt immediate containment measures in Surat district, where the new variant of the Delta variant -- the Delta Plus -- has been found.
